Pune:
Three weeks after 26-year-old lawyer Juhi Prasad was burnt to death in Pune, the mystery around her death has only deepened. The police have so far not been able to the catch who is responsible. In the meantime, Juhi's father finds himself helpless and says all he can do is pray for justice. She always told me, 'Papa I won't be a liability.' She was a very emotional girl she is trapped. Whosoever is the culprit should be arrested immediately, says EV Prasad, Juhi's father.
The Pune police say Juhi's boyfriend Nimesh Sinha claims that his former girlfriend. IT professional Anushree Kundra had set them on fire while they were both asleep. Says Sanjay Jadhav, DCP, Pune: "Anushree went to the house of Nimesh Sinha in Wanowrie area. There she had qa heated argument with Nimesh and Juhi. She left the house only to return with petrol and set both of them on fire."
Before her death Juhi had allegedly told the police that Anushree was responsible. But her traumatized family has not been convinced by this theory. Says EV Prasad: "My daughter suffered 85-90 per cent burns. But how is it that Nimesh who was on the same spot had only 10-15 per cent burns."
The police seem to be still groping in the dark as Anushree the prime suspect remains untraceable even three weeks on. Her mobile phone is switched off, internet connection terminated and her email account suspended. All Juhi's parents can do in the meantime is hope for justice.
