Pune:
Three weeks after 26-year-old lawyer Juhi Prasad was burnt to death in Pune, the mystery around her death has only deepened.
"She always told me 'Papa I won't be a liability'. She was a very emotional girl. Whosoever is the culprit should be arrested immediately," said Juhi's father EV Prasad.
Police say Juhi's boyfriend Nimesh Sinha claims that his ex-lover, IT professional Anushree Kundra, set them on fire while they were both asleep.
"Anushree went to the house of Nimesh Sinha in Wanowrie area. There she had heated arguments with Nimesh and Juhi. She left the house only to return with petrol and set both of them on fire," said Sanjay Jadhav, DCP, Pune.
Before her death, Juhi too told the police that Anushree was responsible.
But her traumatised family is not entirely convinced by this theory.
"My daughter suffered 85-90 percent burns. But how is it that Nimesh who was on the same spot had only 10-15 percent burns? It is surprising that it has been more than 24 days, but still that girl is absconding and deceiving the system," said Juhi's father, EV Prasad.
The police seem to be still groping in the dark as Anushree, the prime suspect, remains untraceable. Her phone is switched off, Internet connection is terminated and email account has been suspended, hampering investigations.
Her parents, meanwhile, are hoping for speedy justice.
