Chennai:
One person has been killed at the Neyveli Lignite Corporation plant in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore district after a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) member opened fire following a reported clash with workers.
The CISF member is in charge of the plant's security. According to the police, the victim, Raja, is a contract worker who had come to meet another employee at the plant. As he waited, an altercation broke out with a CISF constable who shot him dead.
The district police say the firing took place at gate no. 2 of the mine. Police have rushed to the plant to avert a law and order crisis as angry locals went on a rampage at the site and blocked the Cuddalore-Virudachalam highway.
