Hyderabad:
As many as 11 deer hunters were yesterday arrested when they were allegedly planning to hunt the animal near a hilly area in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.
Also, three country-made weapons were seized from them. Based on a specific information that a group of deer hunters were planning to hunt deer near a hilly area of Kamalapadu village of the district, a police team reached the spot and nabbed 11 hunters at around 2 am, DSP (Guntakal Sub-Division) Ch Ravi Kumar told PTI over phone.
"They are habitual offenders. Three unlicensed weapons, net, live cartridges, gun powder and a four-wheeler used for committing the alleged offence have been seized from the accused," the senior police officer said.
The 11 accused were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act and the Arms Act by Vajrakarur police, the DSP said. Further probe is on.
