Hyderabad: An 11-year-old boy was on Wednesday found dead under mysterious circumstances at a juvenile home in Saidabad area of Hyderabad.
According to initial investigation, the doctor in-charge of the juvenile home found marks on the boy's body, raising police's suspicion of a case of sexual assault and murder. A case has been registered and the body has been sent for postmortem.
Sources say that the boy, Asif, who hailed from somewhere in north India, had run away from home, allegedly due issues with her step mother, but had demanded to return back home. He was not immediately taken back due to unavailability of a police escort, say sources.
The juvenile home allegedly does not have a round-the-clock supervision and the boys living in the home are not segregated age-wise, according to sources, suggesting that no special provisions are given to the comparatively younger ones.
Police and the concerned authorities at the juvenile home were not immediately available for comments. More details area awaited.
