Malappuram:
14 people were killed and over 25 injured after a bus they were travelling in rammed into a tree and plunged into a ravine today in Malappuram in Kerala. Nine of those killed are women and children.
The private bus hit the tree after which the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while driving down a steep slope. He, too, was killed in the incident.
Preliminary reports have indicated speeding as the cause of the accident.
Those trapped inside the bus were rescued after the bus lifted using a crane.
The injured have been admitted to the Kozhikode Medical college Hospital and another private hospital.
