14-year-old boy loses mother in accident, donates her heart
Thiruvananthapuram: 14-year-old Anandan lost his mother and injured himself in a road accident, but even in tragedy, he didn't lose his capacity to make what many may consider, a wise decision.

The injured teen agreed to donate his mother's heart after an organisation appealed to him.

Anandan's mother was taking him to the Shangmugham Beach in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday when a drunk auto driver hit the scooter they were on. His mother died on the spot while Anandan suffered minor injuries.

The Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology then appealed to him for their homo-graft programme.

Anandan told NDTV that donating his mother's heart was a wise decision and not a difficult one to make. "When my mother was alive, I often heard her speak during our family conversations about organ donations and that how it is the correct thing to be done. Now I know a part of my mother will be alive somewhere."

Anandan lost his father few years ago and now stays with his uncle Vijay Mohan. His uncle says Anandan was prompt and had no second thoughts.

As this 14-year-old boy has made everyone proud with his decision, he still shudders at the sudden loss of his mother and makes an appeal to everyone, "no one should drink and drive."
