Mangalore: More than 30 passengers were injured when a luxury bus of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) overturned at Dharmasthala, police said today.
The accident occurred on Tuesday evening after the driver lost control over the vehicle while passing through Madyala Chadavu near Dharmasthala, they said.
The group began its tour from Kolar on April 27 and reached Dharmasthala on April 28. The trip was sponsored by the department of women and child welfare.
Staff of the KSRTC's Dharmasthala unit as well as the temple volunteers rushed to the spot for rescue operations. The injured people were taken to a nearby private hospital at Ujire. A few of them were later shifted to a hospital in Mangalore for advanced treatment.
A case has been registered against the bus driver at Beltangady police station based on a complaint filed by the passengers.
