Visakhapatnam:
Prohibition and excise officials seized 400 kilograms of dry ganja, valued at Rs 40 lakh from a Mahindra Bolero vehicle near Etigairampeta under Golugonda mandal of the district today, official sources said.
Excise personnel led by circle inspector of the Narsipatnam excise station M Jaganmohan Rao and his team intercepted the vehicle near Etigairampeta, sources said.
However, the vehicle's driver and assistant driver managed to flee the spot, leaving the contraband packed in 140 bags behind, covered with bags of rice husk, to hoodwink authorities.
The substance is believed to have been transported from the Chintapalle in the Visakhapatnam agency area, towards Vijayawada via Golugonda.
The vehicle has been seized for further investigation.
