Kalpetta, Kerala: More than 6000 kg of ammonium nitrate, a chemical used in explosives, was seized at Muthanga on the Kerala-Karnataka border and two persons were arrested.
Excise Officials seized 6,750 kg of ammonium nitrate while carrying out a routine inspection last night.
They also seized the vehicle used for transporting the chemical at the check post, officials said.
The arrested accused Hakeem and Ishak of Mudigera taluk in Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka told Excise officials that they were transporting the chemical to a quarry in Kozhikode district.
