An elderly woman, who was suffering from fever and throat pain, died today of swine flu in the government hospital in Coimbatore.
The deceased has been identified as Muthammal.
She was a resident of Sultanpet near Sulur on the outskirts was suffering from fever and throat pain and was under treatment in a private hospital since November 30.
With condition deteriorating, she was brought and admitted to the government hospital last night and doctors attending to her diagnosed Muthmmal suffering from swine flu.
However, without responding to treatment, the woman died this morning, hospital sources said.
