Thiruvananthapuram: Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) stalwart and former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan and State Unit Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan were among the leaders elected to the state secretariat of the party's Kerala unit today.
Others elected to the crucial body, which takes day-to-day decisions on state level issues, are politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Lok Sabha member P Karunakaran, former ministers PK Gurudasan, Thomas Isaac, AK Balan, PK Sreemathy and Elamaram Kareem.
Left Democratic Front (LDF) convener Vaikom Viswan, EP Jayarajan, VV Dakshinamurthy, MV Govindan, Anathalavattaom Anandan and Baby John were also elected.
The meeting of the state committee, which was elected by the party's state conference held in February, was attended by CPI(M) General Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and S Ramachandran Pillai, a CPI(M) press release said.
