Chennai: The AIADMK has fielded S Valarmathi, to the by-poll at Srirangam Assembly Constituency, which had been vacated by former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa after her conviction in the Rs 66 crore disproportionate assets case.
The by-poll is scheduled for the 13th of February.
AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa has appointed a 50-member committee, including 29 ministers, to oversee election work at her former constituency.
The DMK has already fielded N Anand, who had unsuccessfully contested against Jayalalithaa in the 2011 Assembly elections.
The Sriangam by-poll would be the first electoral contest in Tamil Nadu after Jayalalithaa's conviction and subsequent disqualification from elected office.
