Chennai: The AIADMK candidate for the Pudukkottai bypoll, Karthik Thondaiman, filed his nomination on Tuesday, the Election Commission said.
Mr Thondaiman, his cover candidate D Karuppiah and two independents filed their nominations for the June 12 by-poll, an official release from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said.
DMK has announced that it is boycotting the by-election, necessitated due to the death of CPI MLA P Muthukumaran in a road accident, leaving former allies AIADMK and DMDK to fight it out.
The DMDK has fielded N Jahir Hussain as its candidate.
