Ariyalur: An alert bus driver showed great presence of mind when he steered the vehicle with 20 people onboard to the roadside after suffering a heart attack at nearby Keezhapavoor today, but later collapsed on the steering wheel and died.
Ganesan (45) was driving the government bus from Salem to Thanjavur when he suffered a massive heart attack. However, he managed to steer the vehicle to the roadside before collapsing
on the wheel, police said.
The bus hit a wall and came to a halt. It suffered minor damages.
The driver was rushed to a hospital, but died en route, they said.
The passengers were sent to their onward destination by another bus.
