Mahabubnagar (Andhra Pradesh): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday inaugurated the Mahatma Gandhi Kalwakurthy irrigation scheme in Mahabubnagar district on the last day of his 'Indiramma Bata' mass-contact programme.
Noting that Stage-I of the scheme would provide irrigation facility to 3.40 lakh acres, he said the government would complete Nettempadu and Bhima irrigation projects by June next year and the full Kalwakurthy project by 2014.
Upon completion, the three projects would provide irrigation facility to as many as 7.8 lakh acres, he said.
Mr Reddy, who visited the government hospital during the day, directed the staff to provide quality medical service and also implement the 'Arogya Sri' health insurance scheme in a fool-proof manner.
Interacting with the students of Palamuru University during the day, he told the students to work hard and reach their goals in life.
The state government has issued notifications for recruitment of government jobs in an unprecedented manner, he said.
Mr Reddy, however, told the students that they should prepare themselves to secure jobs in private sector without waiting for government jobs.
In an interaction with minorities, the chief minister said the government has enhanced the budget for their welfare substantially and initiated various other measures for their benefit.
