Vijayawada:
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandra Babu Naidu yesterday relaunched Doordarshan's DD-Saptagiri, a 24-hour Telugu satellite channel, with a new logo as a mark of its relaunch.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration, Mr Naidu said his government would provide all kind of support for extension and development of DD and AIR (All India Radio) at Vijayawada.
The chief minister, however, called upon DD and AIR officials to improve quality of transmission by installing new technical equipment.
Meanwhile, speaking on other issues, he said on the lines of 'Swachha Bharat' campaign of the Union government, a similar fortnight campaign 'Swachha Andhra Pradesh' will be launched on October 2.
On the new capital, Mr Naidu said location for new capital around Vijayawada would be finalised in next two or three months, adding, that the government has decided to acquire land from farmers, who will have a share after its development. He also said that state government is committed to develop industries in Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, presiding over a meeting with DD and AIR officials, Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu said that the Centre will allocate Rs 103 crore for development of DD at Vijayawada.
He also said that since television is a powerful medium, it is responsibility of media persons to show news that are credible, in order to empower and educate people.
MPs K Narayana, K Srinivas, G Ganga Raju, Prasar Bharati CEO Jawahar Sircar and others also attended the meeting.
