Andhra Pradesh farmer dies of heart attack as crop fails

Machilipatnam: A farmer in Krishna district on Sunday died of a heart attack in his field as maize seeds sown by him allegedly failed to yield crop.

P Sambasiva Rao (45) went to the field in his village in Veerulapadu mandal on Sunday morning and found that the seeds had failed to yield crop. He was reportedly dejected and suffered a heart attack and died soon thereafter, Vijayawada sub-collector S Venkat Rao said.

Taking note of the incident, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the Krishna district administration to enquire into the farmer's sudden death.

A press note released by the Chief Minister's office said that the officials have been asked to initiate action against those responsible for the incident and also to provide financial assistance to the family members of the deceased.
