Hyderabad: Slamming the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh over the prevailing power shortage, main Opposition Telugu Desam and TRS held protests at several places in the state on Tuesday.

Demanding that the government improve the power supply situation in the state, TRS MLAs organised a protest near the headquarters of Andhra Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation (APTRANSCO) at Khairatabad in the city.

Maintaining that the erratic power supply made life difficult for people, especially farmers, they demanded that the government ensure seven hours of uninterrupted power to farmers as promised.

The Chief Minister and other Ministers were busy trying to protect their positions on account of CBI cases (involving Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy) without caring for the people, TRS MLA T Harish Rao alleged.

The protesting MLAs were removed from the place by police and taken to Bollarum police station in the city.
