Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday announced that the maximum number of working days under the NREGS would be increased from 100 to 150.
Speaking at Addakulaguda village in the district as part of his 'Indiramma Bata' (on the path shown by Indiramma) mass-contact programme, he announced that those who have availed of 100 working days under NREGS (National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) would be allowed to work for 50 days more.
Under the first phase of 'Indira Jala Prabha' scheme, he said, 10 lakh acres of lands of SCs and STs would be provided irrigation facility by spending Rs 1800 crore.
He also said the government has asked banks to disburse loans to the tune of Rs 13,000 crore to women Self-Help Groups.
The Chief Minister's mass-contact programme would continue in Srikakulam today. He had launched the 'Indiramma Bata' in East Godavari district earlier this month.
