Andhra Pradesh seeks Uttarakhand government's help for stranded pilgrims from the state

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed senior officials of protocol department to contact Uttarakhand government for providing relief to pilgrims from the state who were stranded near Uttar Kashi due to heavy rains in the state.

According to official sources, the Uttarakhand officials in Dehradun were requested to provide all possible help to the pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh. The officials have informed that all efforts are being made to reach the pilgrims and clearing the road blockades.

Reports from Dehradun said thousands of Char Dham pilgrims were stranded on Gangotri and Yamunotri routes, as incessant overnight showers across Uttarakhand caused landslides in Uttarkashi district and swelled rivers.

Hotels and dharamshalas in Uttar Kashi district are bursting at the seams with Char Dham pilgrims occupying their lounges due to non-availability of rooms.
