Bangalore:
Commuters in and around Bangalore are complaining of huge traffic jams today, caused by a bus strike. Some state-owned buses are on the road with police escorts.
"No untoward incident has been reported. We are providing escorts. Now the movement of KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) has started and we are hopeful that by afternoon, things will return to normal," said T Suneel Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Law and Order.
Angry tweets included Kavya Christopher who said, "Freaking traffic.... Bring those buses back on the road #bangalore" and Mani who tweeted, "KSRTC bus strike today has already affected schools & firms that depend on them. Hope the jokers on both sides resolve this ... #Bangalore"
A few transport unions in the state are on strike to protest against new wages announced by authorities without consultations and negotiations.
