Bangalore engineer raided: Assets worth over Rs 2.35 cr found

Bangalore: Lokayukta sleuths on Saturday unearthed assets worth over Rs 2.35 crore during raids on the premises of an Assistant Executive Engineer and his relative in Bangalore district in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

Assets worth Rs 2,35,72,307 were unearthed during searches conducted at premises belonging to Venkatesh, Assistant Executive Engineer, Bangalore city corporation (BBMP) at Koramangala and residence of his mother-in-law at Yanagunte village and a commercial complex at HSR Layout in Bangalore, Assistant Director General of Police (ADGP) Lokyukta HN Sathyanarayana Rao said in a statement.

The assets included a commercial building in HSR Layout worth Rs 1 crore, a house in Koramangala worth Rs 50 lakh, a residential building in HSR Layout, Bangalore worth Rs 25 lakh, 904 grams of gold worth Rs 21,25,807 and 3.267 kg of silver worth Rs 1,20,000 and three cars, the statement said.

The raids were conducted after a case was registered under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on April 5 following information that Venkatesh had amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income, it added.
