Birth anniversary of Hardikar observed

Belgaum (Karnataka): The 123rd birth anniversary of Narayan Subbarao Hardikar, founder of the Rashtriya Seva Dal during British rule, was observed on Monday at Ghataprabha, about 50 km from Belgaum.

Speaking on the occasion, veteran freedom fighter Somanna Malagali recalled the stellar role played by Hardikar during the 39th Congress session held here under the presidentship of Mahatma Gandhi.

Rashtriya Seva Dal (now known as the Bharat Seva Dal) was founded by Hardikar to bring discipline among volunteers engaged in the freedom movement.
