Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh: As many as 200 thatched houses belonging to fishermen were gutted in fire in Dummulapeta area in Kakinada town in Andhra Pradesh, police said today.
However, nobody was injured in the incident that occurred last night.
Police said the blaze swept through as many as 200 shanties housing over 500 families of local fishermen.
"The cause of fire is not known yet. We are investigating the incident," a Fire official said.
He said the mishap caused major loss to property.
The fire was put out by three fire extinguishers. Senior district officials rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
According to preliminary estimate by officials, property worth Rs 30 lakh was gutted in the blaze.
