Hyderabad:
Bulgaria is all set to open its consulate in Hyderabad following the appointment of Y Kiran Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Suchir India -- a major infrastructure player, as honorary consul.
Bulgarian Ambassador Borislav Kostov will formally inaugurate the consulate at a ceremony being held today.
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and Minister for Civil Supplies and NRI Affairs D Sridhar Babu will also attend the ceremony.
Meanwhile, an exhibition titled "Contemporary Bulgarian graphics" was inaugurated on Friday at the Andhra Pradesh State Gallery in Hyderabad.
The exhibition showcases 27 masterpieces of 20 Bulgarian artists including Buyan Filchev, Rumen Skorchev, Nikolay Maystorov, Svilen Blazhev, Ivan Ninov, Milko Pavlov, Evgeni Kuzmanov and Petar Chuklev.
The art exhibition was inaugurated by Chandana Khan, Special Chief Secretary, tourism and culture, Andhra Pradesh, in the presence of Borislav Kostov and Kiran Kumar.
"The exhibition provides a glimpse of contemporary Bulgarian graphic art at its turning point when it ceases to be elitist. Having become part of the process of global communication, Bulgarian graphic art has shed many of its local characteristics," Mr Kostov said.
"Contemporary Bulgarian graphic art is an example of the authentic inherent struggle between the image as a message and the image as a conveyor, icon, spiritual embodiment, creative energy wrapped in contours and color," he added.
