Hyderabad:
Burglars struck at a state-run rural bank at Jeedimetla and made away with Rs 32 lakh in cash, police said today.
The culprits entered the bank by breaking the window grill last night and used gas cutters to break open the cash safe before taking away Rs 32 lakh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rama Rajeshwari R said.
The burglars also broke open two individual lockers and took away the contents, she said.
"We need to verify from the owners of the lockers what property was stolen," she said.
A fire broke out inside the bank due to the use of gas-cutters. As some locals rushed towards the bank seeing the flames, the burglars fled, she said.
Further probe is on.
