Bangalore : Peaceful by-poll was held to three Legislative Council seats in Karnataka yesterday from local constituencies which witnessed a straight contest between the ruling Congress and key opposition parties.
The JDS, BJP and KJP of former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had struck an electoral pact. BJP fielded two candidates, including former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar's brother Pradeep Shettar, and the KJP one. JDS supported those three candidates.
Polling was held in Mysore-Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga-Davanagere, and Haveri-Dharwad-Gadag segments, following the resignations of K R Mallikarjunappa, G H Tippa Reddy and Shivaraj Sajjan, respectively.
