New Delhi: The Election Commission on Friday announced that by-polls for Mandya and Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka and Avanigadda Assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh will be held on August 21.
After taking into consideration various factors like festivals and electoral rolls, the Commission decided the notification for holding of by-elections will be issued on July 27 and the last date of filing nominations is August 3.
The scrutiny of nominations will be held on August 5 and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is August 7.
The counting of votes is scheduled for August 24.
While polling would be held from 8 am to 5 pm, the model code of conduct shall come into force with immediate effect.
The electoral rolls of the parliamentary/assembly constituencies, where by-elections are being held, have been revised with reference to January 1, 2013 as the qualifying date.
