Bellary: CBI officials today collected material from state forest officials regarding alleged illegal mining by Obulapuram Mining Company owned by mining baron and former state minister G Janardhana Reddy.
The CBI men from Andhra Pradesh gathered information from three forest officials also about alleged encroachment of forest land, officials said.
The CBI action comes in the backdrop of the Supreme Court recently questioning the agency for the slow pace of probe against Mr Reddy, now in jail, in the case.
OMC is accused of changing mining lease boundary markings between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, and indulging in illegal mining in the Bellary Reserve Forest area, spread between Bellary district of Karnataka and Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
