Nagapattinam:
A 20-member state team, led by Additional Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Pankaj Kumar Bansal reviewed functioning of various hospitals and Primary Health Centres in the Nagapattinam.
Addressing a review meeting at the Collectorate after the field reviews at various places, Mr Bansal pointed out the deficiencies observed by the team and urged the administration to take suitable corrective action.
He suggested that paramedical staff serving in various hospitals in the district be transferred to other hospitals on need basis and also stressed the need for efficient administration of hospitals.
He directed district level officials to submit a revised proposal for building a new maternity ward at Sirkazhi Government hospital and also ordered renovating the mortuary at General Hospital.
District Collector T Munusamy, Director of Public Health Korkaipandian and other top health department officials attended the meeting.
