Against the backdrop of differences in Kerala unit of the Congress following the induction of a fifth IUML minister in the cabinet recently, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and PCC President Ramesh Chennithala today met AICC General Secretary Madhusudan Mistri in Kochi.
The two leaders met Mr Mistri separately and discussed the issue, party sources said.
State Power Minister Aryadan Mohammed, who had openly voiced his opinion against the induction, said he stood by his views and had conveyed the same to Mr Mistri.
Veteran Congress leader V M Sudheeran also met the general secretary.
Mr Chandy had expanded his ministry recently by inducting league's Manjalamkuzhi Ali along with Anoop Jacob of Kerala Congress (Jacob). IUML is the second largest partner in UDF.
Mr Mistri was in Kochi in connection with the 'Mahapanchayat', a get-together of about 6000-odd local body members of the Congress which was inaugurated by Mr Chandy.
Organised by the Kerala PCC, the function will provide information about various plan and central funds and also their utilisation.
Union Minister for Consumer Affairs K V Thomas also attended the function.
