Chennai: An army jawan heading for a flight to Visakhapatnam was detained in Chennai today for questioning after he was found carrying live bullets in his hand luggage at the airport.
34-year-old havaldar M Senthilkumar, a native of Dindigul in Tamil Nadu, had come to his hometown on a month's leave.
He came to Chennai airport to board a flight to rejoin duty at his unit in Visakhapatnam, airport sources said.
When his hand luggage was scanned at the domestic departure security hold area, he was found to possess live rounds of bullets which were seized.
He was handed over to police by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, sources added.
