Bijapur : A class four student allegedly set himself on fire in his school classroom in Karnataka's Bijapur district earlier today. He was apparently depressed after he was punished by his teacher. He has claimed that the teacher used to remove his trousers as part of the punishment.
The 10-year-old boy reportedly bought kerosene for Rs 20, went to school, skipped the morning prayers where his other schoolmates were gathered and set fire to himself inside a classroom.
When asked why he did this, he said, "The teacher used to punish us and she used to remove my trousers, so I tried to commit suicide." He is undergoing treatment in a hospital at Solapur.
Apparently, no case has been filed against anyone as yet. Even the parents have not filed a complaint against the teacher or school.
