Mangalore:
Swacha Bharat Abhiyan, the central government's cleanliness drive programme, would be launched in the city on October 2, Mayor Mahabala Marla has said.
In a statement in Mangalore, he said the drive would continue till October 31.
The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) would support any organisation that came forward to participate in the drive by providing them the required equipment for transporting garbage to landfill sites.
A Tamil Nadu-based firm had approached the MCC offering to collect plastic from the landfill sites, he said. The MCC also had plans to build electronic public toilets in the city, Mr Marla said.
