Anantpur:
An escort constable died today after he accidentally pulled the trigger of his rifle on the premises of the Anantpur District Court. The constable, Srinivasulu, was on spot duty to escort undertrials to the the Anantpur district Court.
He was waiting in an escort vehicle for undertrial prisoners when he allegedly shot himself in the head. Police said, there was a loud noise, which created confusion and panic among those present at the site. But later, the victim was found collapsed in his seat by the window of the vehicle.
District police chief Shahnawaz Qasim said, "it appeared to be a case of a freak accident though a possible suicide has not been ruled out." A technical report on what happened is awaited.
