Chennai:
A local court today recalled a non-bailable warrant issued against DMDK leader Vijayakanth in a defamation case filed by the Tamil Nadu government.
Principle Sessions Judge G Chokkalingam, who had reserved orders on the case yesterday, recalled the non-bailable warrant when the petition filed by Vijayakanth, leader of the opposition in the assembly, came up for hearing.
The Judge posted the case to July 29 for further hearing.
The Court had issued the non-bailable warrant against the actor-turned-politician on July 1 after he failed to appear in response to summons.
The case was filed against Vijayakanth in December 2012 on behalf of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for his alleged defamatory remarks against her in an interview to a regional television channel, criticising spending of public money on advertisements.
