CPM activist hacked to death in Kerala's Thrissur
Thrissur: A 22-year-old Communist Party of India (Marxist) activist was hacked to death last night at nearby Guruvayur, allegedly by four Bharatiya Janata Party workers, police said.

Faasil was unit secretary of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of the party.

Police said the four persons attacked him with lethal weapons at Brahmakulam near Guruvayur after intercepting his motorbike. Though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, he died en route, they said.

The area has been tense for some time now following frequent skirmishes between workers of the two parties. On November 3, a BJP worker was injured in an attack, allegedly by CPM workers.

Protesting against the murder, CPM called for a 12-hour hartal from 0600 hours today in Guruvayur assembly constituency under which jurisdiction the crime occurred.
