Perambalur:
At least five passengers were injured as a crude explosive device went off in a crowded moving private bus in Tamil Nadu's Perambalur district on the eve of India's Independence day.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet.
"It appears to be a crude petrol or kerosene bomb fitted with an improvised explosive device inside a soft drink bottle," said Sonal Chandra, District Superintendent of Police. She added that an investigation is on and that security in the district has been strengthened.
The injured are being treated. Police said the explosion took place around 8 pm when the bus bound for Thuraiyur was at Eechampatti.
