Kochi: Customs officials today seized one kg of gold, valued at Rs 28.31 lakh, hidden in socks by a passenger who arrived at the airport early today from Singapore.
The officials said the gold biscuit was cut into two halves and concealed inside the socks worn by passenger John Mohammed, who is from Chennai.
Mohammed, who was on a short visit to Singapore, was not eligible to import gold, officials said.
The passenger had arrived by Tiger Airlines at 1 AM this morning, the officials said.
