Hyderabad: Two days after notorious chain snatcher K Siva was shot dead by police after he attacked a policeman in Hyderabad, the Cyberabad police yesterday said that they have arrested his wife and two associates who were also allegedly involved in as many as 700 snatching cases.

The accused -- Naga Laxmi, M Jagadeesh and M Raj Kumar -- were arrested after police raided a house under Narsingi police station limits in Hyderabad and seized 300 gram gold ornaments besides two four-wheelers, one bike and furniture, all worth Rs 30 lakh, a release issued by the Cyberabad police said.

They confessed to their involvement in more than 700 chain snatching incidents as well as other offences in Cyberabad and Hyderabad Police Commissionerate limits and Medak district, the police release said.

During police checking at Kothvalguda in Hyderabad on Friday night, Siva allegedly attacked sub-inspector Venkateshwarlu with a knife and injured him when the cop began frisking him.

The cop fired at Siva in self-defence and he died on the spot, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand had said on Saturday.

Earlier, K Siva, Jagdeeesh and Raj Kumar were arrested by the police in connection with various offences, but were released from jail later after which they had been absconding for the past two years.

Siva, Jagadeesh and Raj Kumar are most wanted offenders in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states who have been absconding for long. As many as 100 non-bailable warrants were pending at different courts against them, the police said.

"Naga Laxmi instigated her husband Siva and his associates to commit crimes and sometimes also participated in the crime. She used to stay in car to watch the movements of others and she used to dispose the property to lead a lavish life," the police said.

Allegedly, the accused used to sell or mortgage stolen booty and received huge amounts with which they led luxurious lifestyle, the police said.
