Diocese Slams Centre's Suggestion for Law Against Conversion
CSI Madhya Kerala Bishop Thomas Oommen has criticised the proposed legislation.
Kottayam: CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese on Saturday came out against the Centre's suggestion for a law against conversion.

Diocese Bishop Thomas Oommen said proposed legislation violates the fundamental right of a person to profess and propogate one's faith.

Besides this, it would hurt the country's cultural heritage, secular tradition and national integration, Mr Oommen said in a statement here today.

He said it was dangerous to pass such a legislation that would scuttle the development agenda forwarded by the Centre and it would only create apprehension among minorities in the country.
