New Delhi:
The Supreme Court has ordered the reopening of corruption cases against two former DMK Ministers in Tamil Nadu.
Suresh Rajan and Ponmudi, both ministers in the DMK regime from 1996 to 2001 will now face trial in disproportionate asset cases filed against them
These DMK leaders were discharged from the cases by a trial court and confirmed by the Madras High Court. DMK which was in power at the time did not appeal against the discharge.
But the Jayalalithaa government which came to power in 2012 appealed in Supreme Court against their discharge.
Today, the Supreme Court set aside the High Court order, which means that the former ministers now will have to face trial.
