Chennai:
DMDK founder leader Vijaykanth today moved a court in Chennai seeking recall of a non-bailable warrant issued against him in a defamation case filed by Tamil Nadu government.
The court has reserved its order on the petition by Vijaykanth till Thursday.
On Monday, the court had issued the non-bailable warrant against the actor-politician after he failed to appear in response to summons and adjourned the case to July 29.
Vijaykanth's counsel submitted since his client had to appear before some other courts for similar defamation cases, he was unable to be present before Judge Chokalingam.
The case was filed against Vijaykanth in December last year on behalf of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for his alleged defamatory remarks against her in an interview to a regional television channel criticising spending of public money on advertisements.
