Chennai:
The DMK's executive is meeting in Chennai to evolve a strategy to tackle cases against its senior leaders and to decide on a protest plan against what it calls the ruling AIADMK's oppressive regime and vendetta politics.
Scores of former DMK ministers and senior leaders have been put behind bars on charges of land grabbing over the last several months. The party's strongman from Salem, Veerapandi Arumugam has been detained under
goondas act.
DMK chief Karunanidhi will chair the executive and would address a public meeting in the evening. Former telecom ministers A Raja, Dayanaidhi Maran and Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi are attending the meet among others.
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has however denied DMK's allegations. In the past she has claimed that the arrests were made on the basis of complaints by people with no political affiliations.
