Chennai: The DMK's general council, the party's top decision-making body, will meet in Chennai today to discuss its strategy for the Lok Sabha polls next year among other issues.
Earlier this year, the DMK had snapped ties with the UPA blaming the Centre for diluting resolutions against Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council on allegations of human rights violations and war crimes during the final phase of the war against the LTTE. The party had also pulled its ministers from the Union Cabinet.
This meeting comes following the Congress's defeat and the BJP's win in the recent assembly elections for Delhi and few other states.
Sources say the body would authorise party chief Mr Karunanidhi to take appropriate decision on alliances at the right time.
The meeting of the general council will be held at DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam, a statement said.
