Nagapattinam: Participants at a meeting convened by the DMK party in Tamil Nadu's coastal Nagapattinam District today have decided to hold road and rail blockades in Nagapattinam district on November 29 to protest against the Karnataka Government's proposal to build two dams at Mekedattu across the Cauvery River.
"Traders associations in the district have come forward to support our agitation", former MP and DMK's Nagapattinam district secretary AKS Vijayan told reporters.
He said road blockades at more than 100 places would be held in the district on November 29 and blockades of trains will be held at Mayiladuthurai, Sirkazhi and Nagapattinam.
Representatives of CPI, CPI(M), DYFI, IUML and Tamil Nadu Towheed Jamath attended the meeting. Parties and political outfits like DMDK, PMK and Dravidar Kazhagam have also extended their support, Vijayan claimed.
