DMK to stage 'jail-bharo andolan' on July 4 against Tamil Nadu government's alleged oppression
Chennai: The DMK has decided to stage 'jail-bharo andolan' on July 4 to protest against, what it calls, the ruling AIADMK government's oppressive regime and vendetta politics. The party's executive committee met today in Chennai and formulated its strategy to tackle cases against several senior DMK leaders.

The party leadership has called its cadres from across the state to gear up for a non-violent protest. Ahead of the July 4 agitation, the party will also hold public meetings to campaign their cause.

Former telecom ministers A Raja, Dayanaidhi Maran and Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi are attending the meet among others. (See pics)

Scores of former DMK ministers and senior leaders have been put behind bars on charges of land grabbing over the last several months. The party's strongman from Salem, Veerapandi Arumugam has been detained under goondas act.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has however denied DMK's allegations. In the past she has claimed that the arrests were made on the basis of complaints by people with no political affiliations.
