Chennai: A doctor in Madurai has been arrested on charges of raping a school girl.
The 16-year-old girl was reportedly taking treatment from him for the last few days. According to her complaint, the doctor sexually assaulted her when she visited him at a private hospital yesterday.
She claims the doctor took her an isolated room on the pretext of treatment when her sister and brother-in-law, who were accompanying her, had gone to the market while she was waiting in the hospital.
The girl has also alleged that the doctor threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
Police have registered a case of rape, wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation against the doctor.
The magistrate who remanded him has ordered medical examination of both the girl and the doctor.
