Chennai: Union Minister EM Sudarsana Natchiappan today said there was no need to take BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi seriously, claiming that his vote percentage in Gujarat had been on the decline.

"(Modi) is not sold even in Gujarat. The number of votes (for Modi) has declined in Gujarat. There is no need for anyone to take Modi's statement seriously," he told reporters while replying to a query.

"These are attempts Modi does to sell himself. We only have to watch it, don't take him seriously," he said.

Earlier, the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry inaugurated a function at the Chennai Trade Centre at Nandambakkam in Chennai.
